Child of Fire reviews, part 7

Standard

I honestly didn’t think it would keep getting reviews for so long.

Behind the cut.

1) A very short, very positive one from James McNeill: “It’s very well written and I’m looking forward to his future work. Recommended if you like Dashiell Hammett or Chandler.” He hates the title, though.

2) Jana at Reality By Pass also liked it: “As a study of human nature the book is absolutely brilliant.” (Yeah. Love that quote. :) )

3) Random Usenet guy hated it: “Otherwise this is more a supernatural detective/’thriller’ type novel a la Harry Dresden, without the touchy feely relationship crap polluting the femme vampire/ werewolf series like Sookie Stackhouse, Mercy Thompson and countless others.

4) I haven’t been linking to Goodreads or Amazon.com reviews because I already did that in a previous compilation. As you might expect, people are still posting reviews there, and there’s one on Goodreads–a 4-star from K. Bird–that I have to quote (unfortunately, I can’t figure out how to link to the review directly): “Food Designation Rating: Cool Ranch Doritos; you’re not exactly what that taste is or what went into the flavoring of the chip, but you can’t stop eating them anyway. At the end of the bag, you may feel slightly greasy and full from the cheese.

Hah! OMG, how I hate Doritos! But comparing books to food is hilarious.

5) Over at My Book Addiction, “J” listed the book in her December reads sidebar, where she says this: “Child of Fire by Harry Connolly (A-)” but nothing more.

6) On Pop Syndicate, Angela Wilson also liked it: “Debut author Harry Connolly offers a delicious page-turner that makes you want to dive into the second Twenty Palaces Society novel. His voice is fresh, creepy and addictive.

LOL It is fun to see an author quote even the bad stuff. I love the Doritos one. I hate those chips, too!

Keep us posted on the latest – and GOOD LUCK!
