Since folks are pestering me about it*, here’s a list of the old games I bought at Half-Price Books:

My general rule is that I don’t buy games based on other media because they suck so often, but I made an exception for Harry Potter since my boy is a fan.
In truth, I have no idea if these are good games or not. I played Dragon Lair way back in the day when you had to put coins into a machine for it, but the others are completely unknown to me.
We’ll see how lucky I am.
* Note: This is not true. I just wanted to post this list.
Elven Legacy is pretty good, if you’re into that sort of thing.
What sort of thing? Because I have no clue.
Bad news about Legendary – looks like it should be awesome, but averaged 47.40% from 15 reviews according to gamerankings :-(
Speaking of games, I’ve been spending up at gog.com lately. They offer older games DRM-free, many of which I missed the first time around.
For example, I picked up a bunch of Might & Magic games.
Yeah. I guess it sucks.
If I had a smart phone, I could look up reviews while standing at the shelf. Instead I have to sorta risk it, and sometimes it sucks.

Also, Star Control 2 for my favorite game ever (surprisingly engaging narrative and fun gameplay with meaningful consequences plus pop sf references)
Now we need to know what platform you got those games on:P I had chamber of secrets on gamecube and it used a zelda style system(equipping spells to the face buttons to use them and classes as “dungeons”). I think the console version of 3 was the same idea but this time I got it on pc and it was more actiony and had contextual spells.
I must now go do something manly to excuse that paragraph.
Also while I’m commenting, I’m setting up a book review website and I’m writing some startup content for it at the moment. Doing a Circle of Enemies review. Do you still do your review roundup thing as it would be cool to get linked once its up:)
It’ll be a while before I acquire any new games. The site looks cool, but I just bought these six and I won’t finish them any time soon.
I do have books to write and a kid to homeschool, after all.
I play them on my computer. I reboot to Boot Camp windows xp and play.
Otherwise, the only console I have is a Wii and not many games for it.
I have fond memories of working through the Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azakaban computer games with my younger brother. Actually, I think we had the Philosopher’s Stone (or is it Sorcerer’s?) one too, but the programming wasn’t quite…there yet. It was devilishly difficult to aim spells and move. But we had tons of fun with the other two, exploring Hogwarts and searching for hidden bonuses. If that’s something your son looks for in a game, he should be happy.
